Named for the influx of German immigrants to the area in the mid-1800s, today Germantown is a hot Nashville neighborhood with historic charm and some of the city’s hippest restaurants. On the National Register of Historic Places since 1979, what’s considered Nashville’s first neighborhood is known for its lush streets (it’s been deemed as a “city arboretum” by the Nashville Tree Foundation because of its more than 100 species of trees) and Victorian architecture, and it’s just north of Nashville’s capitol building. Famous spots here include the Nashville Farmers Market, Bicentennial Capitol Mall, and Morgan Park.
